Dr. Roybal is an Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UT Health San Antonio. She received her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated from Stanford University for her child and adolescent and general adult psychiatry training. She completed a National Institute of Health (NIH) postdoctoral research fellowship in the assessment, treatment, and neuroimaging of Pediatric Bipolar Disorder at the Stanford Pediatric Bipolar Disorders Program. She is board certified in both child and adolescent psychiatry and general adult psychiatry.
Currently, she is funded by NIH to study the role of early life stress and anxiety as a first clinical symptom in children at high-risk for bipolar disorder. She uses neuroimaging and genetics to enhance our understanding of anxiety as it affects mood symptoms.
